In his travels to Bologna as a youth, Mozart met and was mentored by Josef Mysliveček “Il Boemo”. Later in life, Mozart was very close friends with Joseph Haydn. While there’s no evidence that Il Boemo and Haydn ever met, Mozart is the mutual connection for this concert’s evening of musical repartee. All the quartets date from the decade between 1785-1795 and present three of the day’s most popular composers at the top of their form. Program includes the recently re-discovered Mysliveček op. post, no. 3 in B flat major, Haydn op. 71 no. 3 in E flat major and Mozart’s relatively rarely heard K. 464 in A major.
